Into the Wild (2007) : Movie Review

Image
This exhilarating movie is all about an adventurous journey of a young man named Chris, who after completing his college education set out on a solo trip to hitch hike entire America without money, phone or cigarettes. He had carried a bunch of books close to him, to get lost in those worlds of fantasy, at times when he felt remorse or alone, he would engage in what seems to be called an endless chatter with his favorite fictional characters. He loved to read the works of Henry David Thoreau, Leo Tolstoy, Jack London and could paraphrase their quotes in almost all situations without any waiting. After securing high grades in his college, leaving behind the careerist narratives of his parents and giving his entire life's savings to charity he set out in what seems to be known as an endless journey into the wild plains, mountains and rivers of united states. Throughout his life he craved for freedom, what he calls 'the ultimate freedom' which place him far away from the dos ...

Why do we need a Modern-Orthodoxy

Image
The conflicts between modernity and conservatism has neither beginning nor end. It has undergone very many interesting interpretations and imperatives throughout the eventful past. When it comes to us we personally are those who have a personal liking over grouping something as modern or archaic.  This categorisation moves from the very simple events and gestures of our everyday lives to complicated social policies and practices. Religions had been bloody over this endless dispute.  Neither conservatives and modernists  are to be blamed it is the banality of the mass ought to be blamed. The conservative revolution of the 1918 was the seed ground for the flourishing of the Nazis in Germany. On the other hand, liberalisation paved way to the collective amnesia of the suffering majority who are outcast from the mainstream. Grouping something as modern and traditional have a very strong extrapolation in the temporalities, situatedness and sitz im Leben of the comm...

Reading "Stranger" of Albert Camus

Image
We dwell in a world entangled with an increased amount of estrangement. The novel, Stranger (1946) by the French novelist, Albert Camus, calls us to embark on a journey from an indifferent egotism to a different and radical otherness. It is this concern for others will ameliorate all our anxieties and will make an extenuating effect on all our guilt feelings of all sort. Protagonist is faced with the eerie  meaninglessness of life throughout his life. Nonetheless of the varied depths and involvement of his actions all appeared to be futile at the end of his life. This indifference is also tinctured in his relationship with his loving girlfriend Mariae  who repeatedly compels him to marry her to which the protagonist behaves less appealing. Camus wanted to elucidate more on the futility of all established traditions and systems. This is one of the reasons why he is portrayed as unwanted and unnecessary at his mother's funeral services. He seems rather relaxed and be...

Is Phantom Limb a bio swapper?

Image
Sexuality and Spirituality has a larger role to play when it comes to the case of Neuroscience. Phantom Limb or (ghost sense) pain which is mostly prevalent among the amputees is a condition in which the amputees are likely to develop a pain in their missing organ. It is because that body image that the brain possesses does still possess the organ. It takes a bit time to readjust and adapt with the new morphology. Phantom limb theory has also received great criticisms. I personally observe it as a short term trauma after an amputation. If the case is such then we cannot apply the same for a long term psychological or a mental disposition like that of celibacy. What it provides is an initial head start in the take off stage until the brain accepts the new morphological change.Likewise in the case of religious men and women though has not undergone amputation the genital organs remain inactive. These men and women who abstain themselves from physical intercourse or in any oth...
